How can you just "take notice" of the "negotiated" protocol? I am deeply disappointed and infuriated. It's like the "bigs" of this world don't give a shit about what's going to happen. It's just money money and money, isn't it? And "No wai someone is going to tell us how to act." This isn't about you fuckers, or your socalled sovereignity. What utter bullshit. This is about our death. Everybody's future. It looks bleak enough as it is, and one would assume you'd at least try to not make it suck as much. But that'd be too much to ask for, ah?

I don't even... God damnit. I am so angry I cannot even express myself properly (maybe tomorrow, but not right now). Perhaps it was Rasmussen's fault for being such a poor leader in the debate. I don't know, I wasn't there to judge. I am not even sure why anyone felt the need to "discuss" climate change and ways to prevent it happening as fast as it does in the first place. There's nothing to discuss. Be responsible adults for one moment and stop being selfish and stubborn and greedy. JUST SIGN THE DAMN PAPER, how hard can it be?

Someone should drag them (And I am sure, I don't have to name the culprits cuz YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ò_ó)back there and force them to have another climate summit. Would certainly be a benefit to all.

I'm srsly thinking of going to one of the demonstrations, something I've never done. It's just... this isn't right. It makes me feel ashamed of being human, of belonging to a race so selfish and dumb and juvenile. I am not the most environment friendly person on earth, I admit. Still, this should infuriate everyone on this planet. I really want to pull the ears of the parties responsible and shove them downface into the muddy, iceless earth of upper Scandinavia, so they can take a fucking look at the polarbears dying. Of the reindeers trying to find enough food. Onto Cuba's flooded beaches or the dry sands in Africa or what have you (lacking arguments here? Drawing on stereotypes, but damnit, as if I cared about rhetorics now. You know it's happening, so don't give us this BS about having to prove that humans caused the climate change in the first place)

I did my laundry at 2am and the room smells of detergent.

I ordered THIS book at the Uni-Bookstore *fapfapfap* and I intend on studying it intensely.
I've been feeling dizzy for the last week, kinda like a drunkard *stumbles over own feet*.
Also my right eyelid developed a nervous twitch. Bad omen?
Grandparent's golden wedding is going to be a bore and there are only 300pages left of my book.
I drank coffee and have never felt better nor as focused. Life suddenly has meaning.
There is no place in the world I'd rather be than in the northern parts of Europe, hands down.

So, I read this little essay miarr had linked in her lj about the top ten misconceptions about Loki. Interesting read! There were some quotes in there, too, among other things about a seeress who told Odin secrets in exchange for money. After every secret she revealed, she asked asked "wit you more, or what?". That was so darn funny and kinda colloquial that I'll make a tag out of it. xD That's too great to pass up.

That aside, I had the sudden craving to draw Loki. But I am not entirely happy yet. :/ Da kann noch so einiges. Aside from the outfit (that I'll do another time when it's not 2am), I wondered about an accurate yet still unique hairstyle. I suck when it comes to hair. Also: Facial hair y/n? DECISIONS. I CANNOT MAKE THEM. Needs more freckles i hvert fall.

Still crushing hard. Ahahahaha *sobs* So much that I want to learn how to draw his face without a ref. It's not easy, I think I haven't drawn so much in the last three months as I've been drawing lately. Practice practice practice.... God, he looks so great He's so small and yet all muscly and wiry *Q* that little psychopath.

Oh, did I mention Watchmen has everthing MTL-fandom hasn't? You know like.... SEX POLLEN FICs. I kid you not. I've always missed that with MTL, those dumb standard-plots with lotsa PWP-Sex. Maybe the series was too brutal and SRS BSNSS to even consider going where every fandom (usually) goes. That'd been awesome, tho. Maybe with the coming new season? Lets hope.

Am still amazed about all the many Nite Owl/Rorschach fics I find. And they are all so, so well written. It really blows my mind, how do they even... JUST CRAZY HOW GOOD THEY ARE D: They manage to capture Rorschach's voice and emotions spot on, especially when coupled with Daniel's awkwardness (and god, is he ever awkward around him xD)

I still cannot decide what's better, tho: Hobo!Walter or "Tailor!Schach" xD (Whoever came up with THAT particular term, pfffffhahahaha). Mwah, Walter sewing ♥♥ *giggles like a schoolgirl*

I feel delightfully indecent and it came all at the right time. Or worst time, depends on the POV. University POV = not so good, because I daydream and draw and don't do my work. Don't even listen to other students when they talk to me. I zoom out all the time gah T_T I AM WEAK. ON THE OTHER HAND... it's wonderfully sinful in a way and great and just unf. The best part about is that he dies at the end. It's so damn tragic and makes your heart ache and yet... you can't help but wonder about him, his life, his morals...

University started this week and I'm kinda pooped already. Doing too much worrying over exams and my B.A. paper and how to juggle it all in but one semester. Which meant pushing lectures and seminars around, hoping for the best. Damn General Studies. Everything would have been so nice without you.

So last semester I chickened out with Hebrew (as with other things), almost broke my brain over it and my initial fear of FAILING forced me to give up before I had even TRIED. This way I could avoid losing my face, it wasn't really failing, right? WROOONG. I hate how I always tend to pull out at the last second. Horrible attitude, I know. So I'll try again, I'll go for it this time, hopefully with 100% focus and concentration ò_ó Also this way I won't have to write 4 exams (and one paper) for GSII but only need to face ONE written exam and one oral since Hebrew rewards me with 16 credits at once. Unlike with the other GSII courses that hand out 4 credits at best. It's just the most logical conclusion. On top fo that, Hebrew saves me from reading a shitload of heavy, boring books about such nice topics as Cognition&Information for Philosophy (ewwww) or Labour& Organisational Psychology (ewwww²). In the end it'd be like 5 exams in total as opposed to like... 9. Not that bad, huh? Yeah, I can totally live with that.

That aside, Laura told me I had to take the specialisation exam in English, after all *sobsobsob* As well as attending the colloquium. Despite the fact that I'm not planning to do my B.A. in English. Nrghdhdasdll. Naturally that means specialisation exam for Scandinavian Studies as well. I somehow had managed to block it all out and now it's coming back to haunt me. Bah.

I've felt so bad for the last few days, you have no idea ;_; My pretentious claim to finish University this semester was just that: pretentious. It made me feel like the greatest disappointment on earth mimimi ´3` Add to that a topping of fresh insecurity about meeting future job-requirements~ et violá: You get a quivering, hopeless Lucca-mess. I'll try to see if I can get an appointment for psychological counselling, I guess I really do need that, all considered Dx Gyaah. Did I mention that I thought about taking exams for Norwegian&Danish as well? It might look good on a CV later on...

TL;DR MUCH AGONISING HAS BEEN DONE OVER EXAMS BUT ALL'S GOOD NOW.

I'm sorta confused why people don't speak Danish around me anymore.
Just two days in København/Roskilde had such an effect on my ears already. How particular... I want more Danish like that around me ;_;
Which reminds me... I bought Road to El Dorado in Malmö (audio tracks in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish. LUCKY!), let's put that in <3 Also got myself a Swedish flag, haha. Will hang it on my wall soon once I have powerstrips or ... sth like that. \oo/

Swedes in Skåne are boring, btw. And grumpy. Shops close around 4pm and the teenagers don't even hang around in the city center after 8pm like normal teenagers usually do. They don't even get drunk. Just huddle together in a mall and drink coke. COKE. How pathetic.
Not moving to Sweden, that's for sure. On the other hand,... Ah, København! So many friendly, good looking, BLOND people. Celebrating, having fun. The shops remain open til around 8pm and after that there are so many people running about it's amazing and wonderful ♥♥ What wasn't so wonderful was the weather on the day back home. puella_improba puked while on the ferry to Rostock. I almost did too, it was that bad.
Also Barack Obama )8< Closing the Öresundbridge because of him, whaaaat. He's just another politician, get over yourself!

Also: I took a lot of pictures of Viking art, ships, clothes, housing, tools. Nothing else. Not even the landscape or the people. What the...I don't even...

The ending was confusing, dumb and utterly rushed. Raistlin was not Raistlin, but especially during the end. Um, he had his fight with Fistandantilus in the Legends, why have them fight again? Also, his power is not his own but Fistis and all that comes now afterward is not by his own doing? NO. WHAT?

What a poor ending to a great series. I heartily agree with the amazon critiques. This book sucked >:(

Raistlin is such a sap. Carrying the guilt and memories of his brother all around him even tho HE HATES HOW SENTIMENTAL HE IS ABOUT HIM. I swear he thinks about Caramon all the time. His brother is haunting his very thoughts. He's also extremely obsessing over his betrayal when he left his friends to die in the mealstrom like whoa. Not making this shit up. ALSO HIS COUGH IS GONE AND HE IS SORT-OF-HEALTHY AGAIN. I never imagined Raistlin how I am imagine him during this book (look wise and body-movementwise)... my little boy grew up ;_;
And! Aaaaaand he was described as handsome O_O (if his face wasn't so drawn etc etc BUT HE IS HANDSOME YES I KNEW IT. BISHI-RAISTLIN)
Also also: Ppl keep calling him Raist, even tho HE HATES IT xD Only his brother is allowed to, mimimimimimi

And what is that? Oh oh oh? A sort of love interest for him AFTER ALL THESE YEARS? Can it be? At least she doesn't have a stupid name like Crysania. Frrrt. Iolanthe makes him uncomfortable with being all touchy and world-woman-like around him. But really, omg. This book... Raistlin is actually NORMAL and sort-of nice as a default mood. What happened to you Raistlinnnnnnn. The Saxon Wars are my new favourite thing *_*

Now the question is, how to bend history so as to make a not-so-Christian Saxon meet up with the still-pagan Vikings after Viking raids were in swull swing? Hmph :( Could give it a margin of 50+- or so years after 802 but then it's still only 852AD. First hibernation in England on the island Thanet in 851, tho. Hmmm. AND 865 biggest army landing in Eastanglia yet. So maybe that's not so bad.....
Anyhow, that's probably two to three generations after Christianisation took place, and the constitution was changed accordingly. Clearly enough time to change saxon society significantly.... grah! The chances are slight to find unspoiled pagans in that area during this period.

Two days ago, Julie asked me for my adress. Wanted to send me something, a book I would find "highly interesting". Naturally, I was really curious and delighted, too. It's been so long since the last time we had talked.

Today I received said book, wrapped in wrapping paper with a dedication that read:

(Engl.: To my dearest RPGer and the biggest Fangirl of Qui-Gon and Obi-wan ;) Read and you will understand. *grins*)

I unwrapped the gift, now more curious than ever. Then I saw the cover...

... and went all WTFFFFF. *embrassing mode raising up to 70%*
Pushed it right back into its wrapping again and just grinned, confused - while I was staring at Ilona in the kitchen, hoping she hadn't noticed anything or found my behaviour questionable. Glad she didn't ask WHAT kind of book it was. Then I hid away in my room, took the book out again, turned it around and read the summary on the back. It read like someone had turned a fanfiction into a book, exchanging names and costumes but otherwise left it as it was.

The backside read:

Artists are unsure and desperate, plus the costumers want it cheaper and cheaper these days. It's horrible! Because you put a lot of work into a commission for too little money. So I'd say do pricing after hour. 10$ per hour is a good price to start with. But with your skill and talent you can demand more than that. Far more (maybe 15$ and up. Good artists on dA get 40$/h or more). Your art is quality, so people who recognize this, will be more than willing to pay for it accordingly. Besides, this way you are more flexible to the wishes of the costumer (and so is the costumer, too).

yes but there's also the fact that some artist take forever on coloring something that really isn't up to 40 or 50 bucks but might be worth hmm 10. I wouldn't be willing to pay 50 bucks for my Pirates piece and it took way more than even 10 hrs to color and it's a nice piece but... not a $50 piece IMO.

If you commission someone, you know what they have to offer. You know their portfolio and their rates. You know what to expect. If you are not willing to pay for the workload (because that is something different than just the mere result), then perhaps you should reconsider what you really want from commissions.
Many illustrators have to live from this job. Not all artists there are out there, of course, some want "just" extra money because it's a hobby to them. But that doesn't mean they don't work as hard.
I certainly wouldn't paint 10h for a paltry sum of $10. Would you? That'd be one dollar per hour. One Dollar isn't even as much as one Euro (e.g.). To get payed less than one Euro per hour for something that you consider your job, something with which you have to pay your rent, foood etc ... wow. That's below the poverty level. How long would that person have to spent drawing drawing drawing to even manage to get over 100Dollars? 10hours of work. Just for a colouring. Consider that.

If an artist is can't accept that in truth commissions and sketches which will be at a greatly reduced hourly price are in all honesty... advertising they get paid for. It's the same with fanart. It's a way for the artist to get their name out there, show off their skills so that people will buy their prints which is where their money should be comming from.

I do the same thing. I write fanfiction BECAUSE I want to have a fanbase that will buy my original stuff when I print it. If I get paid a little extra for it, great.

You tell the artist how long you want them to work on the pic. They even give reference in their portfolio how long they take for what kind of quality. That's how I always did it. You know what you will get. Just like with saying "Full character $20" only that it's really more fair for the artist.

You could even tell them what you want in the picture, but some things have to suffer because of the time limit (e.g. you might want it in colour, so the lineart has to go, but a nice, clean sketch with colour might do the trick just as well.) But I get the feeling that you want high quality for dumping prices. I mean, if you are -really- smitten with someone's works, I am sure you'd be willing to pay accordingly. Because you know what you'll get. And right now I have the feeling you are too skeptical of the quality and the artist's honesty and quite stubborn about getting a great piece of art for little money just because. There's certainly nothing wrong with that conception, if an artist is dumb enough to do that... *shrug*

Commissions are a different thing from printing, btw. Commissions are for a private (usually one) person, printing isn't.
I also don't think that professionals offer commissions because they want to learn from it (not much anyways).

That's unrealistic. Albeit it might depend on what you consider a "full colour piece". Cuz I have in mind sth along the lines of Jana's works when I hear these words. And that won't happe in "an hour or two". In the end you don't just pay for the workload alone, but for the experience of the artist and their skill, as well.

Like with furniture. You can buy Ikea of course. But if you want like, say, a real antique that looks marvelous and is wonderfully worked, crafted by skilled hands, not done by a machine, you are willing to pay a higher price, too, right? ;)

I also don't think that most people who offer commissions (and are successful with it) need to build up a reputation and gain a name. They already have it.

No /I/ don't want a high quality image for a shitty low price /I/ however doubt that, especially given the current economy, an artist will be able to get very many commissions and would be better served concentrating on 'prints' being their money maker. People just aren't going to pay it. They won't. Even somebody of Jana's skill won't get what they're worth, especially not with artist out there who do a nice job and expend time on it and charge less. That's the /joy/ of being part of a capitalist system. There are a lot of artist out there that are currently out of work but so is everyone else and while people might want to commission an artist... unless the artist is going to give them a high quality print to go with it (most of which don't) and printing rights (to use say as coverart) they're not going to be able to get half of what they're worth.

They mgiht deserve it but ART IS A LUXURY not a necessity and when people are scrapping by to pay their bills... it's unrealistic.

People who are successful with commissions started at the bottom doing cheap work. And if the person has never done a commission before they can't immediately demand 50 bucks for a single image.

Jana is a very skilled artist but frankly I wouldn't pay 700 bucks for a full color piece. Which is basically a month's rent for one person.

I'm sorry but I really just don't see it ever happening. Only an artist who is the exception to the rule is going to be able to get paid by the hour and then frankly they should be working on games or with a gallery not online commissions. It's just not going to happen in the current economy, deserved or not.

I've been waiting for that damn book for 4 (or maybe 5?) years. 4 FUCKING YEARS. It seems like an eternity. But as we all know,... I'd wait until the stars burn out. For Raistlin. Only for Raistlin. God, I miss him so... ;_; *reaches out for him*

I am practically starved for Raistlin-stuff (mostly smutty ffs). Anything. But if you think you find ANYTHING of worth on the internet, think again. There's nothing. NOTHING. Ugh, it's so depressing. DL fandom is made of epic fail. Srsly. WHERE'S THE DAMN DRAGONRAPE?

Speaking of fail: I rewatched the DL movie with +~*Clizzi+~* again, it's so wonderfully bad. Haha. Sutherland's voiceacting just doesn't work for Raistlin. It's too deep and disinterested and bored. It totally should be more like the German Irenicus from BGII only more...scratchy and grovelly and weak? Different from Sutherland's, that's for sure >: (

I will so give this last Lost Chronicles book to myself as a very belated present. OH YES.
